Violin Lesson Books

Music teacher Angie Marianthi teaching an adult student how to play a violin

Are you looking for violin lessons in Boise, Idaho? Enroll now!

As longtime music teachers, we’ve tried many different approaches to help absolute beginners learn to play an instrument. We spent over twenty years teaching adult violin lessons and adult fiddle lessons, using classical violin and bluegrass fiddle books to develop the best practice strategies for violin technique.

In 2023 we changed our studio name to Campfire Music Collective to better reflect our mission to bring music back into daily life. Along with ditching our old name, Boise Music Lessons, we also decided to ditch our dependence on classical violin method books!

Instead, we created our own musical curriculum combining our extensive knowledge of approachable music theory, current neuroscience research, and comprehensive violin technique; we teach people how to jam with others and play popular songs on the violin!

Nowadays, we much prefer our engaging and immersive Song Cycle Method featuring online tutorials, 1:1 lessons, and group campfires over all other approaches to learning an instrument.

That said, if you’re looking to teach yourself to play the violin, sometimes a violin lesson book can be a valuable resource. We thought we’d share some of our favorite violin books* that we discovered over decades of teaching classical violin and bluegrass fiddle to help you get started learning the violin!
