About these Lessons

Family Lessons are 60 minutes, shared between your group.

Most Family Lessons have been comprised of, well, families. However, we’ve seen friends share time, too! These lessons are not a static arrangement; they are tailored to suit the interests and abilities of each group, and grow and change as the dynamic evolves.

We can accommodate groups of 3-5 people of all ages and abilities.

Family Lessons can alternate between group collaboration and individual instruction observation, or be side-by-side learning from start to finish. Groups tend to progress most quickly when participants select similar instruments (say, violin and mandolin or guitar and ukulele), but we can squeeze percussion in just about anywhere!

Have a family member who wants to join your group but doesn’t play one of our instruments of emphasis?

These musicians are welcome to sign up and participate in rhythm exercises, piano and percussion modules, open mic performance time, and group jam sessions. Stringed instruments like cello, bass, dulcimer, etc. are the easiest to add into the mix, but hit us up to see if your instrument would be a good fit!

Angie and Marcus provide guidance and support during your Family Lessons. They love to play as a mini backing band, throwing down some guitar and percussion to help turn your piece of music into a real song!
