Studio Guide

This Studio Guide sets out the applicable terms and conditions for Membership with Boise Music Lessons LLC (“BML”) doing business as Campfire Music Collective.  By enrolling in a Membership with BML or participating as a player enrolled in a Membership, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

**If you are enrolling any player who is a minor under the age of 18, then by enrolling such minor you represent and warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of the player and that you have the legal right and authority to agree to these terms and conditions, including the releases herein, on behalf of the player.

Your musical learning experience is determined by the Membership tier and duration you selected upon enrollment or renewal.  All tiers include custom arrangements of songs and/or proprietary “Song Cycle Method” music curriculum referred to as “Course Materials.”  Your tier may also include one or more of the following:

  • Videos and play-along materials referred to as “Tutorials,”

  • Live “Lessons” (1:1 or family),

  • Live “Campfires” (group classes).

There may also be additional optional activities you are invited to attend in order to complement or further your musical education.  Tutorials, Lessons, Campfires, and any additional activities are referred to in this Studio Guide as “events”. The number of events to which you have reservation access is based on your Membership tier and duration. As part of your Membership, you will receive an account for or access to one or more Learning Management Systems (LMS), which are third-party web applications we utilize in the operations of the studio.

I. Events and Scheduling

As part of your Membership, you access your Course Materials and Tutorials and schedule live events through your LMS.  You will receive an email notification when your Course Materials and Tutorials are available to view at your convenience, as well as when you can register for live events via your LMS calendar. You may register for and reschedule live events as specified in your LMS.  If you need to cancel an event outside of the designated window, please utilize the Recorded or Gift options outlined below.

A situation may arise where we will need to modify the scheduled release of Course Materials or Tutorials, or reschedule reserved live events. If your reserved event needs to be rescheduled, we will notify you via email as promptly as reasonably practical given the situation.

For in-person live events, we may move classes online and meet virtually in the case of extreme weather (temperatures below freezing or above 100 degrees F, air quality around or above 130 AQI, icy roads, high winds, etc.) or other emergencies.  In this instance, we will notify you via email as promptly as reasonably practical given the situation with a link to our online location.

For in-person live events, please enter the studio at the specified time of your event so as not to interrupt preceding events.  If you are late for your live event, we will maximize your remaining time and end as scheduled. Events are typically conducted at our private residence and domestic animals may be present in our studio.  We may occasionally utilize guests or substitute teachers to present at or conduct events, and may hold events off-site.  In such instances, we will update you via email as promptly as reasonably practical given the situation.

If you are the parent/guardian to a player:

  • You are always welcome to stay during the player’s events, but are not required to be present;

  • It is your responsibility to accompany the player to and from the vehicle if necessary; and

  • You are responsible for the behavior and safety of the player at all events, regardless of whether it is off-site or in our studio.

Some Memberships have the option to invite guest players to live events, space permitting.  There may be a fee for guests depending on your Membership, or limits on the number of events guests can attend without their own membership.  Please use the current guidelines specified in your LMS to request permission to bring a guest, and have your guest provide their signed waiver and fee, if applicable. We expect players and guests alike to follow the guidelines under “Our Expectations” below.

We often provide instruments to play at in-person live events.  We expect all players to treat all instruments with care. Players are responsible for the repair or replacement cost of any damaged instruments, equipment, or property at studio events.

II. Live Event Options

We offer a variety of live event options to suit your learning style and needs.  The current selection of live event options, registration protocols, and cancellation windows for your Membership are detailed in your LMS.  Here is an overview of typical event options:

  • In Person: Meet us at our studio or designated location.  Please do not attend in-person events if you think you are sick with a communicable illness.

  • Virtual: Join us online via the link provided in your LMS.

  • Recorded:

    • Lesson: We’ll send you curated recordings or online resources to supplement your learning.  Please notify us by your event start time to utilize this option.

    • Campfire: Play along with the recording of the group livestream, which will be posted in your LMS on the specified date.

  • Gift: Send a guest in your place.  Please follow the current gifting guidelines specified in your LMS.

 III. Membership Tuition and Renewals

Tuition covers your cumulative learning experience, as well as our time and efforts developing your Course Materials.  Depending on your membership tier, your tuition covers a combination of the following elements:

  • Our time developing custom song arrangements, with options for multiple instruments at multiple playing levels

  • Our time composing our proprietary “Song Cycle Method” materials, a “spiral curriculum” designed to teach and reinforce a variety of musical concepts and techniques over multiple units

  • Our time creating on-demand materials such as recorded tutorials and classes, print resources, and interactive playalong resources

  • Your access to Course Materials such as our custom song arrangements, proprietary “Song Cycle Method” music curriculum, and/or on-demand materials

  • Your time reserved for live events and our teacher prep time for these events

  • Your usage of our studio/classroom facilities, equipment, and supplies and our time maintaining facilities and equipment

  • Our time and financial investment in continuing education as musicians, teachers, facilitators, and community builders.

Tuition is based on your Membership duration (seasonal or annual) and payment plan (in-full or installments). The Seasonal Membership is open to new and renewing students.  The Annual Membership is open to renewing students at the start of the calendar year.

Your payment card will be charged a one-time registration fee upon your initial enrollment, which covers your online orientation.  If you select the installment payment plan during your enrollment for the Seasonal Membership duration, you are responsible for the full tuition amount and authorize us to continue billing the payment method you have provided. Your payment will be automatically processed for the first installment upon enrollment, and on the first Friday of the month for the additional installments.  You will not be invoiced for each installment.

If you select the in-full payment option for your Seasonal Membership duration, you authorize us to process your seasonal tuition amount, minus any in-full payment discounts detailed on your enrollment form, upon enrollment.

If you choose to add a la carte events outside of what is included in your Membership, attend optional activities with an associated fee, or invite guests to live events, you authorize us to process the full amount to the payment method you have provided.  The full amount will still be processed if you cancel outside of the window specified in your LMS, regardless of your attendance.   You will not be invoiced for each fee.

If your card used for auto pay is declined, we will notify you via email to request a new payment method be entered into your LMS profile. Prompt payment is necessary to maintain your active Membership.  If no payment is made after three business days, any reserved events will be canceled and access to on-demand materials for the Membership will be suspended until the payment is received.

If you were approved for a scholarship or Pay-What-You-Can payment plan, your tuition amount and payment dates will be specified in your approval email.  You authorize us to process either your in-full tuition or installment tuition amounts on the specified payment dates, as detailed above.

To provide you with an ongoing learning experience, some Memberships will automatically renew at the same (or current equivalent) Membership tier, duration, and payment plan on the renewal date specified in your LMS calendar. Auto-renewing Membership plans are specified in your enrollment form.  You are authorizing us to charge the applicable renewal deposit unless you notify us otherwise by the renewal date. We will attempt to notify you twice via email of your upcoming renewal before your deposit is processed. Your deposit will be processed via auto pay through your card on file in your LMS profile, on the date and amount specified in your account.

If you select the Annual Membership duration upon renewal, you will be invoiced for the total tuition amount, minus the annual discount. Your renewal and payment dates are specified in your LMS calendar.

All payments and deposits are non-refundable.

IV. Canceling Your Membership

Memberships end on the last day of your season unless you are on an auto-renewing plan (specified in your enrollment form).  To cancel an auto-renewing Membership, notify BML in writing by the renewal deadline specified in your LMS calendar.  Otherwise, your Membership will automatically renew at the same (or current equivalent) Membership tier, duration, and payment plan. If you need to leave the studio mid-season, you can utilize the Live Event Options for your remaining events.  Some Memberships are transferrable, as specified in your enrollment form.  In this instance, you may transfer your Membership to another player, or donate it to the scholarship fund to be distributed at our discretion.

BML may cancel your Membership at any time for any or no reason.  In the event of the foregoing early termination, BML may, at its sole discretion, refund prepaid fees for unused events.

V. Our Expectations

Our intent as music educators is to provide you and the other players in our program with a positive environment to explore music.  We focus on experiences; we feel the lifetime benefits of learning, creating, and sharing music are immeasurable both to players and to their communities.

You are welcome to utilize the events and learning materials included in your Membership to whatever capacity suits this point in your musical journey.  It is your responsibility to interact with the provided learning materials, schedule and attend live events, and communicate with us at live events for how we can best help further your musical enrichment.

If players are distracting to other players at live group events, it may hinder the musical enrichment of others.  Behavioral issues will be addressed with the player. If you are the legal guardian of a player under the age of 18, then we may also address the behavior with you.

We believe music is meant to be shared, and would be delighted if you play our song arrangements with your friends and family.  Please be cool – don’t duplicate, distribute, or perform our arrangements without our express permission.  All song arrangements, musical curriculum, and Course Materials are property of BML and provided exclusively for your own learning.  Do not share Course Materials, or allow others to access your LMS accounts.

VI. Referrals

If you want others to join in on the musical fun, please encourage them to join our studio!  For each new family you refer to BML, you are eligible for a tuition credit (based on your Membership tier and/or duration) when your referral completes their first season.  Thanks for helping us grow a vibrant musical community!

VII. Photo Release

We use photos and videos to tell the story of our musical community on our website and through social media. We are happy to have you as a part of our community and a part of our story.

You hereby consent to and authorize BML to capture and use video/audio recordings and photographic images of you and your musical performance or quoted statements in print, electronic, or online media, for educational and BML promotional purposes only, and without any compensation to You. Players’ first names may also be included with any audio or video material.  You agree to waive and release any and all claims against BML relating to the use of these recordings, images, or statements. This consent is binding upon heirs and future legal representatives and survives the termination of your Membership.

This provision is required for all group events, as they will be recorded. If you prefer to opt out for one-on-one events, please email boisemusiclessons@gmail.com.  Such opting out will be effective as of the date the email is received.

VIII. Miscellaneous

Subject to the fullest extent allowed by law, You, on behalf of yourself, minor player if applicable, and your personal representatives, assigns, and heirs, release and forever discharge BML from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or in any way connected with your Membership, including without limitation any action that arises while participating in events, or while in, on, or upon the premises where the event is being conducted. Furthermore, you on behalf of yourself, or minor player if applicable, and your personal representatives, assigns and heirs, agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless BML, its owners and employees from any and all claims and liability for any damages, losses, or expenses related to your Membership. BML’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR MEMBERSHIP WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHER LEGAL THEORY, SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT OF FEES PAID BY YOU TO BML IN THE 12-MONTH PERIOD PRECEDING ANY CLAIM.
